A postcard that my father, Cadet Ernest Anders Erickson
wrote back home to Bismarck, North Dakota to his kid sister Dian (Boutrous) Erickson
from Kelly Field (Aviation Cadet Center) soon after he arrived for Basic Flight Training.
His nickname for his sister who was two and a half years old at time was Dinny.

October 26th, 1942 - Kelly Field - Aviation Cadet Center

Dear Dinny
This card shows you what Kelly Field looks like. I haven’t been on the field yet,
but am located near it. The only uniforms we got as yet is a pair of coveralls
with the Air Corps insignia on the back. Darn near froze to death.
It gets cold, but don’t mind it.

Ernie
