A postcard that my father, Cadet Ernest Anders Erickson wrote back
home to Bismarck, North Dakota to his folks Clara Amelia (Nelson) &
Frank Severin Erickson from Kelly Field (Aviation Cadet Center) soon
after he arrived for Basic Flight Training. His nickname for his sister
who was two and a half years old at time was Dinny.

October 28th, 1942 - Kelly Field - Aviation Cadet Center

Dear Folks & Dinny

Am sending you this card so you get an idea of the type of barracks we stay in.
The picture is not of our barracks, but of some other ones. Ours are a little
different. I haven’t left this area since I arrived. Will be classified tomorrow
as Pilot, Bombardier, Navigator or ground crew member. The physical is tough,
but I think I can make it.

Tell Dinny, ’Hello' and ask her what time it is, also how many ducks and pheasants she got.

Yours, Ernie
