Fifteen year old Zena (Zenaieda) Abbie (Henninger - Wanner) Erickson and her cousin Lt. Ernest Anders Erickson in front of Clara and Frank Erickson's home at 801 Jefferson Avenue in Bismarck, ND in October of 1943. Zena was a student at Bismarck High School and Ernest was home on leave from the Air Corps. He was about to ship out to England as a B-17 pilot with the 95th Bomb Group. He had just received his wings and was hamming for the photograph with Zena.
Ernest would be stationed at Horham Airfield through the following October of
1944 after completing 35 missions over Nazi occupied Europe. He would return
home after the war in the Summer of 1945. |
