My mother, Bernice (Erickson) Hesslein at twenty years old on the left and my grandmother Blanche Rose (Nathan) Hesslein. Both photographs were taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt of Life Magazine, in Greenwich Village (New York City) in the spring of 1941 during one of their painting exhibitions.
