My mother Bernice Lane (Hesslein) Erickson was born in Brooklyn, NY and loved sailing from the start. Here she is off the coast of Maui in Hawaii in 1972 sailing with my father and myself.

Bernice is a painter and loved all shades of blue and often turquoise can be found in many of her paintings. Her watercolors and canvases had evolved into beautiful abstract waterscapes and seascapes.
