My mother, Bernice Lane (Erickson) Hesslein and my grandmother Blanche Rose (Nathan) Hesselin enjoying a nice sunny day on Long Island, NY. With what seems a joke between the two or just having fun, the two got along great.

Blanche and Bernice spent considerable time painting outdoors together and they loved to travel around New York, Vermont and New Hampshire seeking inspiration.
