As my father Ernest Anders Erickson wrote about his mother: "Ma standing in front of the family Model T on the farm in Painted Woods" Here's sixteen year old Clara Amelia (Nelson) Erickson leaning on the family 1918 Model T Ford on the farm in Painted Woods, North Dakota in 1919. If you look at the indicator lights (resembling lanterns) and the slight squat section just before the engine cowling begins, that makes this beauty a '1918 Model T Ford.' Most specifically, this Ford, is the 'Touring Model' which had raised and sprung drivers seat, and extra passenger seats! The Model T was made famous by Laurel and Hardy in late 1920s to the mid-1940s, for their use during their slapstick comedies, when the car was long outdated. Also attached below is another photo of Clara, this time driving the Model T. |
