At first glance at this photograph, one might think here we have a gang of old gun malls from the 1930s. Not a smile on this gang it seems. Though as often be, just three serious Skandis.

On the left, my grandmother Clara Amelia (Nelson) Erickson with her mother Gertrude 'Gerda' (Miljander) Nelson on the right. They are bookends for Clara's mother-in-law Christine Brita (Olson) Erickson.

My father Ernest Anders took this photograph of his mother and two grandmothers in 1948 in Bismarck, North Dakota outside the family home on Jefferson Avenue.
