A photo studio portrait taken in 1900 in New York City of my great grandfather Benjamin Nathan who was born in Germany in 1847. He immigrated to the states in 1860. He was the owner of the Nathan Novelty Manufacturing Company in the Bronx, New York City. He and my great grandmother Henrietta (Bach) Nathan had one son, Edwin and three daughters, Winifred 'Winnie' (Rippe), Sadie (Ripin) and Blanche Rose (Hesslein), my grandmother. Below the photograph of Benjamin are examples of the late 1800s to early 1900s newspaper advertisements for the Nathan Novelty Manufacturing Company. Published in the New York Times and other local periodicals and newspapers in New York City. Of the many products Nathan offered (some for the US Army) below you will find black and white print ads for the Nathan 'Comfykit.'
The text reads: An article on Benjamin's son Edwin Benjamin Nathan is also below. |
