Out into the Golden Gate Park and past the Buffalo fields and Speedway Meadows you are heading west to the coast along John F. Kennedy Drive. You are deep into the Sunset and Richmond Districts of San Francisco. You are sandwiched in-between trees and green fields and the quiet and the ever peacefulness of the park.

Then all of a sudden you emerge out of the trees, past the Golden Gate Park windmills and there you are, looking out onto the flat area we all have been drawn to over the years. The sand and the breakers spread out for miles and you are there, on the edge of California at Ocean Beach.

An unique place and one that has always held some of the best memories of my college years and beyond. Frank Kallop here on the left lived out near the Pacific at the time of this photograph. He surfed up and down the coast to Pacifica and beyond. I lived in North Beach, yet often would head out along the waves and cool ocean breezes of Ocean Beach.
