My Aunt Dian Marcella (Erickson) Boutrous's mother-in-law, the charming Della 'Delleh' (Nassif) Boutrous can be seen here in the kitchen along with other Attiyeh Family members. The Bismarck Tribune article is dated July 14th, 1950. There are two photographs below the article, one featuring Della in her kitchen, taken by her Dian's husband, and Della's son, Floyd Nick Boutrous in 1957. The other image is of Dian, Floyd, my grandmother and Dian's mom, Clara Amelia (Nelson) Erickson and Della taken in 1961 by my grandfather, Frank G. S. Erickson. Contributing to the Attiyeh festivities and the feast ahead, members of the Nicola, Saba, Skaff, Bashara and Nassif are present here in the photograph at Della's home in Bismarck, North Dakota preparing traditional foods from their homeland. The Sunday night Syrian Banquet is described quite well in the article. One of the many family experiences (before my time) that I wish I could have attended. As it mentions in the text, "The Syrian Banquet is one of the highlights planned for the four day convention of the Attiyeh Society which will open here Saturday afternoon."
The article ends most appropriately and how I have felt often over the years, as I
was fortunate to get to know the various families that make up the whole, 'The
Attiyeh Family.'
