Aboard the S.S. Meta, my Great Great Grandfather Wolff Bach left the port of Bremen, Germany and headed for his new homeland in America. He arrived on September 9th, 1844 and ported in the New York Harbor. He had begun his journey from his homeland of Prussia. Wolff was 23 years old and he had written 'Bookbinder' as his profession on the ship registry.

Wolff Bach was born in 1820 in Baden, Germany and would meet his future wife, Louisa Gottheime(r) in New York City, who was born in 1829 in London, England.

Wolff and Louisa would have 7 children:
One of them would be my Great Grandmother Henrietta (Bach) Nathan. She would be Wolff and Louisa's third child. Henrietta was born in August of 1847 in Easton, Pennsylvania and passed on March 1st 1930, at 45 Washington Avenue in Lawrence, Long Island, NY. She was living at the home of her daughter, Sadie and her husband Seymour (Nathan) Ripin. Henrietta is the mother of my grandmother Blanche Rose (Nathan) Hesslein.

Appreciation to Julie R. Evans of Yucaipa, California for her considerable help on specific history of the Erickson/Nelson/Hesslein/Nathan/Bach families. Julie is my cousin by way of her second cousin, once removed and our Great Aunt Roma M. Wirt (Summers) Nelson. Roma is the wife of Sture Albin Nelson, who is the older brother of my Grandmother Clara Amelia (Nelson) Erickson.
