American Expeditionary Force 1918 - 1919
Out West & North Dakota

My grandfather Frank Severin Erickson received this letter from the writer Thomas M. Johnson dated November 1st, 1937 inquiring if Frank would help out with information for his book in progress on "The Lost Battalion."

Frank obliged and sent him his recollections of his early October of 1918 days while he was serving with the American Expeditionary Force in the Argonne Forest in France.

As a runner / rifleman with the 308th Infantry - Company C, Frank would be involved and witness life changing experiences that haunted him for years after the war. In that and many other aspects of my grandfather's life I dedicate these many pages to his memory and to his two brothers, Pvt. Ernest Julius Erickson and Pvt. Anders "Andy" Sebran Filimon Erickson.

The Lost Battalion

Frank was given credit in the book, "The Lost Battalion," cover attached below.
