Pvt. Frank G.S. Erickson of the 308th Infantry, 77th Division was a runner / rifleman with Company H in 1918 serving in France. Here he sat for an iconic portrait that still is one of my favorite photographs of Frank. The image was framed and hung on the wall of my grandparents home in Bismarck and our home in Hollywood. It became the way I thought of Frank when I was a young boy and man. I continue to view it with awe.

The portrait was used in the book "Lost Battalion - Survivors From Minnesota And the Northwest." by Carl J. Peterson. Attached below is the cover and text from the book.
