Out West & North Dakota

My grandfather Frank Gustaf Severin Erickson and his older brother Ernest Julius Erickson worked as Oregon Railroad Deputies out of La Grande, Oregon in 1917.

When this photograph was taken it was a period of their travels out west from North Dakota just before the outbreak of the US involvement in World War I. In the Summer of 1917 both Frank and Ernest would join the The American Expeditionary Force and end up both going overseas and serving in France with the 308th and 361st Infantry's respectively.
