Many people have inspired me to paint over the years, but I
would have to go back to my childhood, to the true beginning
of growing up with my family's art collection on the walls of our
house. Paintings and drawings by artists in my family and
others that opened my eyes to the possibility of becoming a
painter.
Below are examples of paintings and prints by my mother, Bernice Erickson; my grandmother, Blanche Hesslein; my father, Ernest Erickson; and great-grandfather, Benjamin Nathan. Also included are a few collaborations. The paintings below by my family were created in New York City; Provincetown, Massachusetts; Hollywood and Venice, California, between 1866 and 2007. Growing up with these paintings on the walls was my inspiration. In my early years, it moved me in a direction I could not resist: to paint. |
