My Great Grandmother Brita Kristina ‘Christine’ Olofsdotter Olsson (Ersson Eriksson) Erickson who was born in Stöde Västernorrlands län, Medelpad, Sweden and emigrated from Sweden in 1903 to North Dakota.

Brita and her Granddaughter Dian Marcella Erickson in the early Spring of 1944 standing in front of their Jefferson Avenue home in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Dian is wearing on her lapel, her brother Ernest Anders’ Prop & Wings insignia pin he gave her before leaving for Flying Combat Duty with the 95th Bomb Group (8th Air Force) out of Horham Airfield in England.

Lt. Ernest Anders Erickson would complete 35 bombing missions over Nazi occupied Europe as a B-17 Flying Fortress pilot between March and August of 1944 and return home in 1945 to Dian's great delight.
