Here President Lyndon B. Johnson & Floyd Nick Boutrous meet at the airport in Bismarck, North Dakota. In the Spring of 1964 across the Great Plains states LBJ set off campaigning for President. Floyd mentioned when he met LBJ (as photo shows his grumpy expression) and began showing him around town, Floyd was not too impressed with LBJ at all. He felt Johnson came off as the big shot Texas arrogant politician I have always read about. He was obviously in a hurry to get back on the plane after his speech that afternoon. But Floyd handled it like he did with so many things, with a smile and a good attitude. Floyd crossed paths with some very interesting folk over the long course of his life. I was often in awe of him and he was well liked by my folks and grandparents. Floyd did a lot for the family, especially how he was always there for my grandparents, Clara (Nelson) & Frank Erickson. My father, Ernest Anders Erickson appreciated that tremendously.
RIP Uncle Floyd, you were a good guy, great husband and father and a superb
North Dakota advocate. |
