Last Gram Voided 2023 24" x 23" (61cm x 58cm) Monotype |
The quality of oil paint or ink on paper is like no other, it shimmers and lays on the surface with a regal atmosphere. Our monotypes rely on spontaneous gestures and strokes of various tools and brushes, used during the painting and printing sessions. Pure abstraction is the focus, colors mingle, shapes and illusions of depth exist. In that very arena of abstraction images of landscapes, aerial views, abstract figures and animal shapes will appear. The monotype is a technique that yields one unique impression from each plate onto paper. The sizes of the plates are a personal issue, we prefer lightweight plates as they have advantages, one example is the ability to cut into the plastic with a sharp tool and then applying ink into the crevices. The results have an engraving feel. Using brushes, rollers or hand made tools results in an one of a kind image, an unique impression left behind for each print.
