This Pola was taken when not a soul was around a favorite saloon in Jack London
Square, not far from here, in Oakland, California. Full name of the joint is 'Jack
London's Rendezvous Heinhold's First & Last Chance Saloon.'


Heinhold's has been there since 1883. That was around the time a young Jack London,
after spending some time at sea and traveling up to Canada and other parts of North America,
got back to his hometown of Oakland. Jack would study at the tables in the bar, to finally
get his high school diploma. Look forward to when Heinhold's reopens.
