My mother Bernice Lane (Hesslein) Erickson when she was modelling in New York City for newspaper and magazine ads. She also modeled for classes at the Art Students League. One particular place she spoke of often was modelling at the Hans Hoffman School in NYC and Provincetown where her mom Blanche did life drawing.

This photograph here, was of that time, 1940s Hollywood actresses like Gene Tierney, Vivian Leigh, Hedy Lamar and all those dark haired beauties of the silver screen. My mom talked often of seeing Greta Garbo sleek into the studio on 5th Avenue hiding behind dark sunglasses and scarves. That made a huge impression on this Brooklyn gal.

This particular image was always one of my favorites. I did a few successful Warholian graphics of the photograph years ago. They were high contrast in three colors and one example is below.
