My Great Grandfather Benjamin Nathan shown below in 1895, was born in Berlin in 1847 and emigrated from Germany to America with his Parents Sarah Baruch (Mauerirgier) and Charles Nathan in 1860 He was the owner of the Nathan Novelty Manufacturing Company in the Bronx, New York City. He and my Great Grandmother Henrietta (Bach Gottheimer) Nathan had four children: Three daughters, Winifred 'Winnie' (Nathan Bach) Rippe, Sadie (Nathan Bach) Ripin, and my Grandmother Blanche Rose (Nathan Bach) Hesslein, and one son, Edwin Benjamin.
Below the photograph of Benjamin are examples of the late 1800s to early 1900s newspaper advertisements for Benjamin's 'Nathan Novelty Manufacturing Company.' They were published in the New York Times and other local periodicals and newspapers in New York City. Of the many products Nathan offered (some for the US Army) below you will find black and white print ads for the Nathan 'Comfykit.' The text reads:
