left to right - bottom row: Ghattas called his five sons 'steps' as they went from tallest to shortest in a complete natural order. Soon after this photo was taken, three of the five boys went off to serve in the war in Europe and never saw their Father Ghattas again, as he passed away in ?Bismarck in February of 1944. In the 2nd photograph below, are the five Boutrous Brothers in 1946 standing out front of the Boutrous Family 'Corner Grocery' in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Left to right: The full name of the Boutrous elders were Delleh 'Della' binto Jirji Nassif Boutous Attiyeh and Ghattas Fares Boutrous Abu Dakken. The surname of Abu Dakken was dropped by Ghattas in the early 1900s after he immigrated to the States. Ghattas was born in Ain Arab, Lebanon, Syria on February 12th, 1882. Delleh was born in Ain Arab on February 17th, 1892. Delleh and Ghattas were married on September 19th, 1910 in Sioux City, Iowa. Ghattas first opened 'The Fair Store' in 1917. Later the family opened the Boutrous Family 'Corner Grocery' on January 1st, 1929. He ran the 'Corner Grocery' until he passed in Bismarck on January 12th, 1944. Delleh and Family continued to operate the 'Corner Grocery.' Delleh passed on June 30th, 1985 in Bismarck. Delleh and Ghattas had eight children, three daughters and five sons.
